so i doubt that anybody knows or cares enough to have found out, but i am still wondering at the writer/director's intentions(message) for this film. i realize that one might be hard pressed to get an honest answer out of them due to the content (which to me seems strikingly anti-homogenization for japan), but as i do not read japanese, it would be nearly impossible for me to find such information on my own. i feel that the subject matter leans more toward cultural identity than consumerism
